Mashantucket Pequot Tribe: Forest Management

The Mashantucket Pequot Tribe is interested in ways to proactively anticipate threats from climate change in order to maintain forest health.

Project Area

The Mashantucket Pequot Tribe, located in northeast Connecticut, manages approximately 1,600 acres of forestland. Tribal forestry staff members have attended the Forest Adaptation Planning and Practices online trainings to consider climate impacts and potential adaptation actions. They have considered a range of topics across their entire land base, including current issues like invasive species. More information from this project will be shared as the project develops.

Management Goals

Primary goals for the Mashantucket Pequot lands include maintaining forest health and vigor, preserving culturally-significant species, and minimizing threats from wildfire.
